National Portrait Gallery Competition 2024. The shortlisted artists will be informed in early august, and the shortlisted works will go on display here from 9 november 2024 until 9 march 2025. The exhibition will be displayed at the national portrait gallery in canberra from june to october 2024.
Entries for both competitions must be with us by 10pm on 21 june 2024. The annual competition showcasing contemporary portraiture is open to artists from across the island of ireland, and irish artists living abroad.

To enter the 2024 competition, photographers are required to upload their image (s) via the national portrait gallery’s competition platform.
Celebrating The 42Nd Edition Of The Competition, The First Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award Will Represent The Very Best In Contemporary Portraiture, With Entries Accepted Until 16 January 2024, To All Artists Aged Eighteen And Over.

All Images Will Be Viewed Anonymously By A Panel Of Judges Who Will Collectively Select The Prize Winners And Works For The Exhibition.
